RESOLUTION NO. 107 23
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO '0 KA`U KAKOU FOR
ITS NA`ALEHU RESILIENCE HUB.
WHEREAS, '0 Ka`u Kakou(OKK) is a 501(c)(3)nonprofit organization that sponsors
and supports community activities in the district of Ka`u that enhance the quality of life for keiki,
kupuna, and businesses; and
WHEREAS, COVID-19 has severely impacted the County of Hawai`i, with many
households still experiencing food insecurity; and
WHEREAS, OKK is producing fruits and vegetables for meals from the farm they
created for the purpose of a food source; and
WHEREAS, OKK has been providing meals three times per week to those in need and is
requesting funds to assist with paper goods, supplies, and protein for meals; and
WHEREAS, this program falls within the mission of the Department of Research and
Development to enhance the standard of living for residents in Hawai`i County; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to the Department of
Research and Development to provide a grant to '0 Ka`u Kakou for expenses related to its
Na`alehu Resilience Hub.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Research and Development and Director of Finance, and that the
Director of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the
terms of this resolution.
