RESOLUTION NO. 115 23
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HOSPICE OF HILO
FOR ITS 19th ANNUAL CELEBRATION OF LIFE EVENT.
WHEREAS, Hospice of Hilo, DBA Hawai`i Care Choices, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit
organization that provides medical, social, and spiritual services for terminally ill patients at their
end of life, as well as providing support to their families and caregivers; and
WHEREAS, for the past 19 years, Hospice of Hilo has held its annual Celebration of
Life event to raise awareness regarding end-of-life choices and to provide bereavement support,
with this year's event to be held on May 28, 2023, at Reeds Bay Beach Park; and
WHEREAS,the 19th Annual Celebration of Life is an event to remember loved ones that
have passed and honor the life they have lived, as well as celebrate the diverse and rich cultural
foundation of our island; and
WHEREAS, Hospice of Hilo is requesting funds to help defray the costs of this event,
including, but not limited to, advertising and event supplies; and
WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Parks and Recreation is to provide
events and activities that celebrate and commemorate our culture, heritage, and diverse
communities; and
WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Department of
Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to Hospice of Hilo for its 19th Annual Celebration of Life
event.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
Recreation and Director of e
resolution to the Director of Parks and Financ , and that the Director
of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accord lance with the terms of
this resolution.
