A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING THE SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO ST. AUGUSTINE’S
EPISCOPAL CHURCH IN NORTH KOHALA TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATED TO ITS MONTHLY COMMUNITY MEAL PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church was founded in 1884 as a mission church with the goal of faithfully serving the diverse and isolated community in North Kohala; and
WHEREAS, St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church, a subordinate 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization of the Episcopal Church in Hawai‘i, seeks to continue the tradition of Christian service through
its ongoing monthly community meal program, which feeds those without regular access to proper food sources; and
WHEREAS, St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church has a certified kitchen on its campus where volunteers prepare and pack the community meals, serving 400 to 500 people at every monthly meal
using a drive-through system; and
WHEREAS, St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church is requesting funding assistance to help purchase the necessary ingredients and supplies to prepare and serve food for its monthly community
meal program at its church campus; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports this program as it is in keeping with the goals and objectives of the department to support public programs that improve the well-being
of Hawai‘i County residents in a safe, drug- and alcohol-free environment; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant
to St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church in North Kohala to assist with expenses related to its monthly community meal program.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
