• <br /> REPORT OF THE <br /> COMMITTEE ON FINANCE <br /> DATE: April 4, 2023 Re: Comm.No. 165/Bill No. 36 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 10:30 a.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawai`i County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill No. 36, reports as follows: <br /> Bill No. 36,transmitted by Finance Director Deanna Sako,via Communication No. 165 dated <br /> March 16, 2023, amends Ordinance No. 22-63, as amended, the Operating Budget for the County of <br /> Hawai`i for fiscal year ending June 30, 2023. <br /> This bill appropriates revenues in the Federal—Block Grant account($2,680,506) and the Block <br /> Grant—Program Income account($100,000); and appropriates the same to the following accounts: <br /> West Hawaii Domestic Abuse Shelter Phase 2 Improvements ($252,615), Hawai`i County Economic <br /> Opportunity Council—Certified Kitchen Conversion($580,001), Hamakua Youth Community Center <br /> Phase 2 Improvements ($650,000), Hale `Ohana Domestic Abuse Shelter Phase 2 Improvements <br /> ($162,000), Mental Health Kokua—Hilo Hale Residence Improvements ($175,000), Ka`u and Puna <br /> Volunteer Fire Station Brush Truck Acquisition($370,000), Mental Health Kokua—Van <br /> Transportation Acquisition($74,000), and Administration, Planning and Fair Housing ($516,890). <br /> Committee Chair Matt Kaneali`i-Kleinfelder stated that this is a companion measure to Res,No. 83-23. <br /> Mr. Kaneali`i-Kleinfelder asked Housing and Community Development Specialist Royce Shiroma when <br /> they would begin accepting applications. Mr. Shiroma replied that while the department will begin <br /> accepting in September,they will start sending out flyers to the administration in July.
