COUNTY OF IIA AI`I STATE OF HA AI`I <br /> et6" as Mo:•te <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 130 23 <br /> trEOFN!'� <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING THE SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANTT THE WAIMEA ARTS <br /> COUNCIL TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATED TO MAINTAINING THE <br /> FIREHOUSE GALLERY. <br /> WHEREAS, the Waimea Arts Council is the oldest arts organization in North Hawaii, <br /> dedicated to promoting the arts, encouraging artists, and providing the general public with a <br /> forum to engage in art-related community events and activities; and <br /> WHEREAS, restoration and upkeep of the Firehouse Gallery, located in the historic old <br /> firehouse and firemen's bunkhouse in the heart of Waimea town, has been the primary project of <br /> the Waimea Arts Council since 1980; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Waimea Arts Council, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is working to <br /> repair and maintain the Firehouse Gallery to further its mission of stimulating community <br /> interest and participation in programs that develop and display the creative arts skills of all age <br /> groups; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Waimea Arts Council is requesting funding assistance to help purchase <br /> the necessary supplies and services to maintain the Firehouse Gallery, including electrical <br /> repairs, pressure washing, and paint materials; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation supports this project as it is in <br /> keeping with the goals and objectives of the department to support the needs and interests of <br /> Hawaii County residents to have safe facilities to enjoy education and recreational activities; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to the Waimea Arts Council to assist with expenses <br /> related to maintaining the Firehouse Gallery. <br />
