A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING THE SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE NORTH KOHALA
COMMUNITY RESOURCE CENTER TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATED TO THE NORTH KOHALA COMMUNITY EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM.
WHEREAS, the North Kohala Community Emergency Response Team (NKCERT) is a volunteer organization focused on providing the public with important knowledge, training, and materials regarding
emergency preparedness and response; and
WHEREAS, NKCERT, the largest community emergency response team in Hawaiʻi County, is currently working to open a new emergency shelter to serve as its base of operations; and
WHEREAS, the North Kohala Community Resource Center, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is working in partnership with the organizers of NKCERT to provide safe and reliable community-based
emergency services for the people of North Kohala; and
WHEREAS, the North Kohala Community Resource Center is requesting funding assistance for expenses including, but not limited to, batteries, water service, communication technology, and
medical supplies; and
WHEREAS, the Hawai‘i Fire Department supports this project as it is in keeping with the goals and objectives of the department to support public programs that provide Hawai‘i County
residents with exceptional, all-hazards emergency services; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Hawai‘i Fire Department to provide a grant to
the North Kohala Community Resource Center to assist with expenses related to the North Kohala Community Emergency Response Team.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
