A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING THE SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE WAIMEA ARTS
COUNCIL TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATED TO MAINTAINING THE FIREHOUSE GALLERY
WHEREAS, the Waimea Arts Council is the oldest arts organization in North Hawai‘i, dedicated to promoting the arts, encouraging artists, and providing the general public with a forum
to engage in art-related community events and activities; and
WHEREAS, restoration and upkeep the Firehouse Gallery, located in the historic old firehouse and firemen’s bunkhouse in the heart of Waimea town, has been the primary project of the
Waimea Arts Council since 1980; and
WHEREAS, the Waimea Arts Council, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is working to repair and maintain the Firehouse Gallery to further its mission of stimulating community interest
and participation in programs that develop and display the creative arts skills of all age groups; and
WHEREAS, the Waimea Arts Council is requesting funding assistance to help purchase the necessary supplies and services to maintain the Firehouse Gallery, including electrical repairs,
pressure washing, and paint materials; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation supports this project as it is in keeping with the goals and objectives of the department to support the needs and interests of Hawai‘i
County residents to have safe facilities to enjoy education and recreational activities; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide
a grant to the Waimea Arts Council to assist with expenses related to maintaining the Firehouse Gallery.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
