RESOLUTION NO. 135 23
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE WAIAKEA HIGH
SCHOOL PARENT TEACHER STUDENT ASSOCIATION FOR THE 2023 WAIAKEA
HIGH SCHOOL PROJECT GRAD NIGHT.
WHEREAS, the Waidkea High School Parent Teacher Student Association (PTEA) is a
subordinated unit of PTA Hawaii Congress, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization; and
WHEREAS, the Waiakea High School PISA assists Waidkea High School and its
students with programs and activities, including the Waidkea High School Project Grad Night for
graduating seniors; and
WHEREAS, Project Grad Night activities are designed to provide a healthy and safe
venue for graduates; and
WHEREAS, the Waidkea High School PTSA is requesting funds to defray the cost of
transportation, security, office supplies, student gifts, and safety supplies/equipment for the 2023
Project Grad Night for graduating seniors; and
WHEREAS, one of the Department of Liquor Control's goals is to support programs that
promote the health, education, and well-being of the youth in our community with alcohol- and
drug-free events such as graduation ceremonies; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Department of
Liquor Control to provide a grant to the Waidkea High School Parent Teacher Student
Association for the 2023 Waidkea High School Project Grad Night for graduating seniors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
