JMVV OF of <br /> HAWAII is :NSTATE OF HAWAII <br /> art oF'Hrv+ <br /> RESOLUTION NO. :1402.0 23 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING A APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING THE SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO FRIENDS OF THE <br /> FUTURE TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATED TO THE NORTH HAWAII <br /> DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS COMMITTEE. <br /> WHEREAS, domestic violence, also called intimate partner violence, is a threat to the <br /> general welfare of our community that requires building public awareness around the impact of <br /> domestic violence, support services and programs for victims, and other informational resources; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, the North Hawaii Domestic Violence Awareness Committee, a local <br /> community-based advocacy group, has recently identified a physical location in Waimea where <br /> they intend to establish a resource center to connect victims and other individuals with the <br /> critical services, programs, and resources they need; and <br /> WHEREAS, Friends of the Future, a 501(c)(3)nonprofit organization, is working in <br /> partnership with the organizers of the North Hawaii Domestic Violence Awareness Committee <br /> to establish this domestic violence resource center; and <br /> WHEREAS, Friends of the Future is requesting funding assistance to help with the <br /> necessary expenses related to setting up this resource center in Waimea including, but not limited <br /> to, internet and telephone services, informational handouts, and miscellaneous office supplies; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports this project as it is in keeping <br /> with the goals and objectives of the department to support public programs that work to build <br /> safer and healthier communities through a drug- and alcohol-free Hawaii County; and <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Liquor Control to provide a grant to Friends of the Future to assist with expenses related to the <br /> North Hawaii Domestic Violence Awareness Committee. <br />
