JMVV OF of HAWAII is :NSTATE OF HAWAII art oF'Hrv+ RESOLUTION NO. :1402.0 23 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING A APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING THE SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO FRIENDS OF THE FUTURE TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATED TO THE NORTH HAWAII DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS COMMITTEE. WHEREAS, domestic violence, also called intimate partner violence, is a threat to the general welfare of our community that requires building public awareness around the impact of domestic violence, support services and programs for victims, and other informational resources; and WHEREAS, the North Hawaii Domestic Violence Awareness Committee, a local community-based advocacy group, has recently identified a physical location in Waimea where they intend to establish a resource center to connect victims and other individuals with the critical services, programs, and resources they need; and WHEREAS, Friends of the Future, a 501(c)(3)nonprofit organization, is working in partnership with the organizers of the North Hawaii Domestic Violence Awareness Committee to establish this domestic violence resource center; and WHEREAS, Friends of the Future is requesting funding assistance to help with the necessary expenses related to setting up this resource center in Waimea including, but not limited to, internet and telephone services, informational handouts, and miscellaneous office supplies; and WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports this project as it is in keeping with the goals and objectives of the department to support public programs that work to build safer and healthier communities through a drug- and alcohol-free Hawaii County; and WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant to Friends of the Future to assist with expenses related to the North Hawaii Domestic Violence Awareness Committee.
