A RESOLUTION TRANSFLRRINGIAPPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HAWAII ISLAND
LGBTQ PRIDE TO SUPPORT ITS 11TH ANNUAL PRIDE PARADE AND FESTIVAL.
WHEREAS, Hawaii Island LGBTQ Pride is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose
mission is to provide opportunities for youth and the community to gather together and celebrate
love, diversity, and equality; and
WHEREAS, Hawaii Island LGBTQ Pride's 11th Annual Pride Parade and Festival
brings members of the LGBTQ community together to affirm their fundamental rights and place
in Hawaii County; and
WHEREAS, the 11th Annual Pride Parade and Festival will be held on Saturday, June
24, 2023, along Hilo bayfront and at the Mo`oheau Park bandstand; and
WHEREAS, Hawaii Island LGBTQ Pride is requesting funds to cover expenses for
rental fees, volunteer materials, keiki area and activities, and porta-potty rentals for its 11th
Annual Pride Parade and Festival; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations that promote
family-friendly events and activities in a drug-free and alcohol-free environment; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 2 will be appropriated to the Department of
Liquor Control to provide a grant to Hawaii Island LGBTQ Pride to support its 11th Annual
Pride Parade and Festival.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the CountyClerk shall transmit a copyof this
resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
