Mtv of� <br /> COUNTY OF C a rt ;e, STATE OF t <br /> J <br /> �rEOFM�� <br /> SOLUTION NO. 146 23 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE HAWAII KEIKI <br /> MUSEUM TO PURCHASE INTERACTIVE SEATING FOR ITS "OPII LEARNING <br /> AREA." <br /> WHEREAS, the Hawaii Keiki Museum is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization created for <br /> the purpose of starting a children's science discovery center in West Hawaii, and its mission is <br /> to inspire curiosity, creativity, and innovation in children by introducing them to science during <br /> their formative years; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Hawaii Keiki Museum teaches keiki, through science discovery, that <br /> local challenges are also global concerns, and that climate protection, ocean health research, <br /> astronomy studies, and earth science investigations are all currently being conducted on Hawaii <br /> Island; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Hawaii Keiki Museum would like to provide soft, "puzzle" furniture <br /> that is both a toy and seating for its "Opihi Learning Area,"which is a safe play area for keiki <br /> under the age of five; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Hawaii Keiki Museum is requesting funds to purchase interactive <br /> seating to upgrade its "Opihi Learning Area"; and <br /> WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Liquor Control is to support <br /> organizations and programs that promote the health, safety, and welfare of the public in a drug- <br /> and alcohol-free environment, such as the Hawaii Keiki Museum in Kona; and <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, <br /> service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Liquor Control to provide a grant to the Hawaii Keiki Museum to purchase interactive seating <br /> for its "Opihi Learning Area." <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
