i JNtYf®F y�� 'i COUNTY OF HAWAVI STATE OF HAWAVI I RESOLUTION NO. 1,56 23 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION'S `IKE PONO-HAMAKUA SUMMER FUN PROGRAM IN ULA`IMANO, PAPA`ALOA, AND HONOMU. WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation, Recreation Division,provides diversified recreational programs and activities for all age groups that address the needs and interests of the respective communities in a safe environment at County recreational facilities; and WHEREAS, the Recreation Division conducts summer fun programs in the districts of Hamakua, Hilo, Puna, Ka`u, Kona, and Kohala in the months of June and July; and WHEREAS, one of the Hamakua summer fun programs is `Ike Pono-Hamakua, which is a two-week session to be held at the Kula`imano Community Center, Papa`aloa Annex, and Honomu Gym for keiki that have completed third to eighth grade; and WHEREAS, the `Ike Pono-Hamakua summer fun program will provide youth with specific cultural lessons and life skills through the understanding of sense of place and its history, the importance of malama `aina, sustainable gardening and moon phases, ocean safety, fish identification, cooking, crafting, and sports activities; and WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation is requesting funds to purchase equipment and supplies for the kitchen, sports, gardening, crafts, and other related costs to conduct its `Ike Pono-Hamakua summer fun program; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Department of Parks and Recreation for its `Ike Pono-Hamakua summer fun program in Kula`imano, Papa`aloa, and Honomu. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
