i <br /> CIOUNTY OF HAWAII <br /> pSTATE OF HAWAII <br /> _ t <br /> RESOLUTION NO. <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HOSPICE OF HILO <br /> FOR ITS 19TH ANNUAL CELEBRATION OF LIFE EVENT. <br /> WHEREAS, Hospice of Hilo, DBA Hawaii Care Choices, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit <br /> organization providing palliative, hospice, and bereavement care to improve the lives of those <br /> touched by illness or grief by offering support, guidance, and compassionate care of the body, <br /> mind, and spirit; and <br /> WHEREAS, Hospice of Hilo is hosting the 19"Annual Celebration of Life event on <br /> Sunday, May 28, 2023, at Reeds Bay Beach Park to commemorate the lives of loved ones who <br /> have passed; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Celebration of Life is a free community event that includes culturally <br /> diverse activities, food, and music, as well as a Lights of Remembrance ceremony that includes <br /> the release of floating luminaries at sunset; and <br /> WHEREAS, Hospice of Hilo is requesting funds to help defray the costs of this event, <br /> including, but not limited to, advertising and event supplies; and <br /> WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Parks and Recreation is to provide <br /> the public with diversified recreation programs in park facilities that address the needs and <br /> interests of the community in a safe and well-maintained environment; and <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to Hospice of Hilo for its 19th Annual Celebration of Life <br /> event. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
