Dear Mayor Yamashiro:
Re: Designation of North Kohala Enterprise Zone.
I have received the letter of January 15, 2000, from Margarita Hopkins, Director of the
Hawaii County Department of Research and Development, nominating the North Kohala
area for Enterprise Zone (EZ) designation.
After review of the nomination by the Department of Business, Economic Development
& Tourism, I agree that this is the most appropriate location for Hawaii County's sixth
and final Enterprise Zone. Therefore, commencing on this date, I am designating the
area described in this letter as an enterprise zone as defined, in and subject to, Chapter
209E, HRS.
I am hopeful this will prove beneficial to both your County and the State as a whole.
