RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF HAWAI‘I DEPARTMENT OF LABOR AND INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS, PURSUANT TO HRS 46-7, FOR A GRANT TO THE HAWAI‘I COUNTY
RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, the State of Hawai‘i, Department of Labor and Industrial Relations (DLIR) has authorized $965,600 in federally derived funds to be provided to the County of Hawai‘i, Department
of Research & Development via the Quality Jobs, Equity, Strategy, and Training Disaster Recovery National Dislocated Worker Grant; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of this agreement is to assist individuals that have been adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and the social and economic inequities that it exacerbated,
to enter, return to, or advance in high-quality jobs that are safe, sustainable, stable, equitable, and support worker voice in the workplace; and
WHEREAS, Hawai‘i Revised Statutes, Section 46-7, requires that County departments obtain the consent of the council to enter into agreements with the federal or state governments respecting
action to be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend, and receive any funds or other assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant
to those powers; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I, in accordance with section 46-7, Hawai‘i Revised Statutes, that the Mayor of the
County of Hawai‘i is authorized to execute, on behalf of the County, an agreement and related documents with State of Hawai‘i, Department of Labor and Industrial Relations for services
as described above.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk of the County of Hawai‘i shall transmit copies of this resolution to the Office of Management, the Department of Finance, and the Department
of Research and Development.
