A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HOSPICE OF HILO
FOR ITS 19th ANNUAL CELEBRATION OF LIFE.
WHEREAS, Hospice of Hilo (doing business as Hawai‘i Care Choices) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides medical, social, and spiritual services for terminally ill patients
at their end of life as well as providing support to their families and caregivers; and
WHEREAS, for the past 19 years, Hospice of Hilo has held its annual Celebration of Life event to raise awareness and provide education regarding end-of-life choices, with this year’s
event to be held on May 28, 2023, at Reeds Bay Beach Park; and
WHEREAS, the 19th Annual Celebration of Life is an event to remember loved ones who have passed – honoring the life they have lived and the lives they have touched, as well as celebrating
the diverse and rich cultural foundation of our island; and
WHEREAS, Hospice of Hilo is requesting funds to help defray the costs of this event, including, but not limited to, renting equipment for trash disposal, sound system, and staging; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports drug-free and alcohol-free events that enrich the lives of community members; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 5 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant
to Hospice of Hilo for its 19th Annual Celebration of Life event.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
