iY H,4‘, <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII \ `:* STATE OF HAWAII <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 161 23 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE MEN OF PA'A <br /> FOR EXPENSES RELATED TO THE PUNA KEIKI TO KUPUNA IMU MEA AI <br /> PROJECT. <br /> WHEREAS, the Men of Pa`a, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, empowers and enables <br /> Native Hawaiians through the process of Ho`okanaka, a culturally-rooted, communally-relevant <br /> process of personal change catalyzed by servant leadership; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Men of Pa'a is working with the community to host the Puna Keiki to <br /> Kupuna Imu Mea Ai Project, which will be open to the public and held on May 31, 2023, at the <br /> Men of Pa'a farm in Pahoa; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Puna Keiki to Kupuna Imu Mea Ai Project promotes dialogue between <br /> keiki and kupuna to foster working relationships, storytelling of Hawaiian history, mentorship, <br /> music, and crafts; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Men of Pa'a is requesting funding for the Puna Keiki to Kupuna Imu <br /> Mea Ai Project for expenses that include, but are not limited to, stipends for cultural artists and <br /> musicians, supplies, and rental of tables, chairs, and tents; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports drug-free and alcohol-free <br /> events that enrich the lives of community members; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, <br /> service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 5 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Liquor Control to provide a grant to the Men of Pa'a for expenses related to the Puna Keiki to <br /> Kupuna Imu Mea Ai Project. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
