Re: Comm. No. 214/Res. No. 118-23
Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 118-23, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 118-23, transmitted by Finance Director Deanna Sako, via Communication No. 214
dated March 30, 2023, creates one new Waster Safety Officer V and one new Clerk III position for the
Hawaii County Fire Department.
This resolution establishes positions to support the Fire Department's Ocean Safety Operations Branch.
Committee Member Holeka Goro Inaba noted that this position is State -funded and asked whether the
department created this position in anticipation of continued funding. Fire Chief Kazuo Todd confirmed
that this is the case. Mr. Inaba then asked how many Water Safety Officer V positions the department
has, to which Chief Todd replied none.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 118-23, and
recommends its adoption.
