Re: Comm. No. 213/Bill No. 42
Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill No. 42, reports as follows:
Bill No. 42, transmitted by Finance Director Deanna Sako, via Communication No. 213 dated
March 30, 2023, amends Ordinance No. 22-63, as amended, the Operating Budget for the County of
Hawaii for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2023.
This bill increases revenues in the Fund Balance From Previous Year account ($47,000); and
appropriates the same to the Golf Course Other Current Expenses account to cover higher than
anticipated utility expenses.
Per Committee Member Holeka Goro Inaba's request, Parks and Recreation Business Manager
Reid Sewake confirmed that the County has budgeted appropriately for the upcoming fiscal year to
cover these expenses and costs. Mr. Inaba then asked if there was an increase in green fees, to which
Mr. Sewake replied that there was an increase in 2022.
Committee Member Michelle Galimba expressed that she would like the golf course to be more
sustainable and stated her interest in talking with the department about that possibility.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Bill No. 42, and recommends its
passage on first reading.
