Your Committee on Governmental Operations and External Affairs, to which was referred
Communication No. 189, reports as follows:
Communication No. 189, transmitted by Mayor Mitchell D. Roth, dated March 31, 2023,
requests the Council's review and confirmation of the nomination of Luahiwa Namahoe to the
Salary Commission.
Executive Assistant to the Mayor Pomaika`i Bartolome was present in the Kona Chambers to
introduce Ms. Luahiwa Namahoe, who was also present in the Hilo Chambers.
Pursuant to Article 13, Section 13-28(a) of the Hawaii County Charter, members of the Salary
Commission shall be appointed by the Mayor with the approval of the Council.
Your Committee on Governmental Operations and External Affairs is in accord with the purpose
and intent of Communication No. 189, and recommends confirmation of the appointment of
Luahiwa Namahoe to the Salary Commission.
