Aloha Honored Council Representatives-
I write in support of this Resolution to urge the State Legislature to follow through on their commitment to support the
recovery of Puna. Without the harbor being dredged as recommended by Limitiaco Consulting Group, it will be
impossible to open this vital access to the ocean for our fishermen and our residents.The recovery of Puna hinges on
the fulfillment of these plans to reopen Pohoiki access. May 3rd 2023 will make the fifth anniversary of the 2018 lava
flow. As president of Lower Puna Rising, an activist group of local Puna residents, who seek the recovery of our
community through rebuilding the roads,the ocean access, and the belief that our government, both at the County and
State level are there to continue their support at this critical juncture of the recovery program,we urge the unanimous
support of this resolution.
I would have made this appeal in person, but I am in California visiting family. I look forward to reading about the
outcome of your deliberations.
