Subject: Resolution 108-23 Ocean View Skatepark Association
Aloha,
We are a 5010 non profit which has been working for over 4 years to raise funds for the building of a skatepark in
Ocean View at Kahuku Park. We have almost$20,000 raised through grassroots fundraising.
Ocean View lacks resources and healthy activities for youth to engage in. Due to the isolation of the area, commuting to
other towns is challenging as over half our population is under the poverty line.With 44%of our population being youth,
we are striving to provide more healthy activities for them. Skateboarding is rated as the 3rd most popular sport among
students and provides an athletic outlet with limited individual investment.
The land dedicated to the project will be going through the Environmental assessment process soon, and we hope to
receive additional grant funding through several grants.
We appreciate the support and assistance of the County to help us make this a reality for our community.
