Aloha Honored Council Representatives:
I strongly recommend that the Council defeat Bill 32. As executive director of Puna Rising, an organization that has been
able to avail itself of County grants through the auspices of the Arts &Science Center, I believe ASC and other non-
profits are fully justified in collecting a 10%fee for servicing these grants.
I believe in the maxim: If it is not broken, then don't fix it!
If this bill passes in its present form it will make it more difficult for non-profits and for-profits organizations like
ourselves to support the growth and revitalization of Puna.
This article, Nonprofits Wine lfictory in CJverhead Battles With Government, clearly demonstrates the
negative impact that Bill 32 would have on the County of Hawaii.
Puna Strong non-profits & for-profits need the County to be supporting our efforts, not throwing obstacles in
our way.
I would be at the County Council to present my testimony, but I am having a medical procedure that day.
Mahalo for all that you do for the betterment of our glorious island.
