I am opposed to overriding the Mayor's veto and passing Bill 194. Bill 194
creates unintended consequences in creating additional barriers to housing
and in adding additional uncertainty to the development of our housing
supply. We recognize that there is a great need for housing across the state,
especially in Hawaii County. If this bill is passed I am concerned that this will
be another roadblock for developers to develop on 'island. There needs to be
more support and incentive for developers to mutually create a prosperous
community. Happy to discuss further, but my recommendation would be to
vote no on Bill 194.
