Many changes have occurred during that time, and not all of them good. For example, we've seen great increases in population and resulting traffic that our roads can't handle. We were therefor elated when the Council approved Bill 194, which requires that developers seeking extensions of time to finish approved projects have to seek approval from the elected members of the County Council rather than the appointed personnel in the Planning Department, which would better assure that changing conditions in the intervening years are accounted for. Our elation, however, was short lived when we learned that Mayor Roth had vetoed of bill. We therefor strongly urge you to vote to override the Mayor's veto for the reasons best stated in the excellent opinion written by Dennis Gregory that appeared in the April 13, 2023, issue of West Hawaii Today. Aloha and mahalo for your consideration and service, Joel Gimpel and Jan Rae ;. 75-628 N. Mea Lanakila Pl. ,. Kailua-Kona, HI. 96740 -==' 808/325-4991taJ Comm. No. ` o •O, Ref. To: P(W W I 1 Ref.
