Aloha Hawai'i County Council Members,
I am writing in strong support of Bill 194, and ask that you vote in favor of overriding Mayor Roth's veto.
It is time to bring transparency and accountabilityto the zoningextensions process.There is no excuse for a

developer to be given a five year limit and then granted a two-year extension in year eight.Yet,this scenario has
happened within the current system.
Bill 194 increases transparency by making zoning extensions a public process rather than an administrative one with
little to no accountability to the public and to the law. Without this measure, special interests can continue to influence
land use on our island and we will continue to struggle with increasing land prices and housing availability.
Please support our voice and pass Bill 194 again.
