Subject: Please vote to overide Bill 194
The County planning department has too much power on their own without oversight from the public to make important
decisions that impact our Island.This is why big money seems to get to do everything they want and it is more difficult to build
affordable housing and small businesses. I recently spent over 3 years in the planning department's complicated web building
an Ag barn to operate an agricultural business. It ended up being so much more expensive and took so long to build that it
nearly forced us to stop.Through the process, much of the regulations and rules were changed, modified or made obsolete.
County planning departments have been investigated and found corrupt on other islands, perhaps we need Federal oversight
in our own to be sure.
Please, I believe that the County planning department is seriously a damaging element to productive and important economic
development and adequate housing needs on our Island. Please vote to override Bill 194 and send the Planning department a
message that they need to be more careful about how they govern the resources and land of our Island.
