Dear Chairman Arakaki and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate Evarts C. Fox of Kamuela, Council District 9, to the
Hawaii County Board of Appeals to replace Janet H. Fujioka of Hilo, whose term
will expire on December 31, 1999.
Mr. Fox is a 30-year resident of Hawaii and since 1995 has been retired. Prior to
that, he was the Museum Director with the Hawaii Maritime Center in Honolulu.
He is active in community affairs serving as a trustee for the Kahilu Theatre
Foundation, a member of the Waimea Round Table, is the senior warden of the
St. James Episcopal Church and an advisor of the Graduate Ocean Policy
Certificate Program of the University of Hawaii. Mr. Fox is a member of the
Democratic Party.
If approved, Mr. Fox will serve a term to end on December 31, 2004. Should the
Council have any questions regarding this nomination, you may call me at your
