JML�u N,1 1,1 'I � COUNTY OF HAWAII -•i ' /1• STATE OF HAWAII RESOLUTION NO. 166 23 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HAWAII ISLAND LGBTQ PRIDE TO SUPPORT ITS ANNUAL PRIDE PARADE AND FESTIVAL. WHEREAS, Hawai`i Island LGBTQ Pride is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide opportunities for the community to gather together and celebrate love, diversity, and equality; and WHEREAS, Hawai`i Island LGBTQ Pride's annual Pride Parade and Festival brings members of the LGBTQ community together to affirm their fundamental rights and place in Hawai`i County; and WHEREAS,the annual Pride Parade and Festival will be held on June 24, 2023, along Hilo Bayfront and at the Mo`oheau Bandstand; and WHEREAS,Hawai`i Island LGBTQ Pride is requesting funds to cover expenses for parade safety (police presence), banners, and marketing for its annual Pride Parade and Festival; and WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Parks and Recreation is to provide events and activities that celebrate and commemorate our culture, heritage, and diverse communities; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to Hawai`i Island LGBTQ Pride to support its annual Pride Parade and Festival. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
