•'N1v Of y COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII RESOLUTION NO. 175 23 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO POHAKU PELEMAKA FOR ITS HO`OWEHE I KA NIU SUMMER CAMP. WHEREAS, Pohaku Pelemaka is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to protect,perpetuate, and enhance the intrinsicqualities of lower Puna,the well-beingof Native p �P �P � Hawaiians, and the heritage of Hawai`i Island by working in partnership with agencies and organizations in the public and private sectors; and WHEREAS, Pohaku Pelemaka is hosting the Ho`owehe I Ka Niu summer camp on July 1-4, 2023, at Ka`akepa, Puna, which will provide educational and cultural opportunities for youth in the community of Puna makai; and WHEREAS, Ho`owehe I Ka Niu summer camp promotes the transmission of intergenerational knowledge from kupuna to keiki, with a major focus on the niu plant and how to use,protect, and care for it; and WHEREAS, Pohaku Pelemaka is requesting funds to help defray the costs of the summer camp, including, but not limited to,purchasing food, kitchen supplies,tents, tables, chairs, bathroom supplies, honorariums for practitioners, and printing; and WHEREAS, it is the goal of the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide the public with many diversified recreation programs that address the needs and interests of the community in a safe and well-maintained environment; and WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program,project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to Pohaku Pelemaka for its Ho`owehe I Ka Niu summer camp. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
