A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HOPE SERVICES HAWAIʻI,
INC., TO SUPPORT THE HAWAIʻI KEIKI RODEO EVENTS.
WHEREAS, HOPE Services Hawaiʻi, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that brings to life gospel values of justice, love, compassion and hope through service, empowerment, and
advocacy; and
WHEREAS, Hawaiʻi Keiki Rodeo Association (HKRA) promotes the rodeo sport for youth (18 and under) and preserves the Paniolo lifestyle for the keiki of Hawai‘i Island; and
WHEREAS, HOPE Services Hawaiʻi, Inc., is working with HKRA to empower and support the paniolo culture and history of Hawai‘i Island by hosting four youth rodeo events at the Alvin Cabral
Rodeo Arena with the finals being held on June 3, 2023; and
WHEREAS, these keiki rodeo events will be drug- and alcohol-free family-friendly events that attract residents from around the island; and
WHEREAS, HOPE Services Hawaiʻi, Inc., is requesting funds to purchase a storage station and maintenance equipment and supplies for this event; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports public programs that promote drug- and alcohol-free events that enrich the lives of community members; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant
to HOPE Services Hawaiʻi, Inc., to purchase a storage station and maintenance equipment and supplies for the Hawaiʻi Keiki Rodeo Association events.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
