HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 170 Draft 01 2022-2024 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HAWAI‘I ISLAND ADULT CARE FOR TUITION ASSISTANCE FOR ITS HILO ADULT DAY PROGRAM. WHEREAS, Hawai‘i Island Adult Care (HIAC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has been providing services for kūpuna, challenged adults, families, and caregivers since 1976; and WHEREAS, HIAC provides adult day care six days a week, and most holidays, and is currently serving 33 participants and their families to provide a safe and social space to meet the diverse needs of the individuals; and WHEREAS, the services that HIAC provides allows kūpuna and challenged adults to continue living at home rather than an institution, providing assurance to family members that their loved ones are well cared for in a nurturing environment during the day; and WHEREAS, HIAC is requesting funding to provide tuition assistance for participants in its Hilo Adult Day Program who have demonstrated a financial need; and WHEREAS, HIAC has partnered with the Office of Aging in the past and upholds its mission to optimize the health, safety, and independence of Hawai‘i’s older adults; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 2 will be appropriated to the Office of Aging to provide a grant to HIAC for tuition assistance for its Hilo Adult Day Program. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: FUND: General       AMOUNT OF APPROPRIATION:  $5,000       OUT AND FROM:    010.101.5101.91 Clerk-Council SVC – Contingency Relief $5,000      CREDITED TO:    010.411.5411.02 Office of Aging $5,000   Office of Aging OCE    115 Misc. Contract Services    (Hawai‘i Island Adult Care – Tuition Assistance for Day Care Services)    BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this resolution to the County Executive on Aging and Director of Finance, and that the Director of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
