Subject: Please Support Res. 141-23
Aloha members of Hawai'i County Council, Please support Res. 141-23 and consider the easement acquisition re TMK: 7-
6-004:003 w/PONC funds. This Conservation Easement is an important opportunity to preserve our cultural heritage and
to ensure this walking path right-of-way is secured. Without an easement, establishing a community pathway and
connecting the school to the community center is impossible. FOREVER.There are no alternate routes. This Res. 141-23
is vital to envision the possibilities for our future ability to make a multi-generational impact in our community at large.
Without an easement, there is no possibility of establishing a community pathway. FOREVER.There are no alternate
routes. This easement would serve and preserve; 1)Acquisition of a conservation easement would include a safe
walking path and pedestrian access to public venues and other destinations in Holualoa village;and-Safe Route To
School!—this is a vital segment to connect Holualoa School and the Imin Community Center—directly and safely distant
from the Mamalahoa Highway. 2)Acquisition of a conservation easement would provide an opportunity for community
involvement through recreation, education in"an outdoor classroom,"and social interaction;and-Walking in nature is
so healthy and enjoyable! -The route passes through the Holualoa Streamriparian area—and can become a
learning/project area for the School and Community! -Fostering community-building opportunities 3)Acquisition of a
conservation easement would facilitate the restoration of the historic walls, walk/pathway, and Shikoku Pilgrimage
Monument-The Pilgrimage Monument has been repaired—this easement will legally preserve it! -Help preserve and
restore the walking path—Maintain access and connections! -Help preserve the historic walls.as part of the cultural
landscape.
