Dear Chair,Vice Chair,and Members of the Committee,
As a resident of Hawaii Island who cares deeply about the Ka`u community, I am testifying today in
support of Resolution 132-23.The contingency funds cited in this resolution will be used to support
Vibrant Hawai`i's Capacity Building Program,which will provide technical assistance and training to
nonprofits in Ka`u,so that they may increase capacity and advance their goals in supporting the
community.
Examples of technical assistance and training activities include grant writing,501(c)(3)application
preparation,fundraising support,and community outreach support.An initial assessment will be
conducted to uncover and assess existing challenges and opportunities for nonprofits in Ka`u.Once
the assessment is complete, participating nonprofits will receive weekly one-on-one advising and
ongoing support tailored to their organization's needs.At the conclusion of the program, participants
will receive personalized recommendations and timelines so that they may achieve long-term success.
