�Nivfos°!�k, <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAIJ STATE OF HAWAIJ <br /> a?�• Na row:h <br /> �T•or•NPd, <br /> ESOLUTIOl®I NO. 1.85 23 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRINGIAPPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO EXPAND THE SIGNAGE AT THE EDITH <br /> KANAKA`OLE MULTI-PURPOSE STADIUM TO INCLUDE "HOME OF THE <br /> MERRIE MONARCH FESTIVAL." <br /> WHEREAS, the Merrie Monarch Festival is an annual event that perpetuates the <br /> memory and legacy of King David Kaldkaua through an internationally renowned celebration of <br /> hula and Hawaiian culture; and <br /> WHEREAS, the past 60 festivals have been held in and around the Edith Kanaka`ole <br /> Multi-Purpose Stadium within the Ho`olulu Complex, and the festival includes an invitational <br /> arts fair, cultural demonstrations, hula performances, and a parade that showcases the many <br /> cultures of Hawaii; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation is requesting funds for expenses <br /> related to expanding the signage at the Edith Kanaka`ole Multi-Purpose Stadium to designate the <br /> stadium as the "Home of the Merrie Monarch Festival"; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation provides and facilitates a wide <br /> variety of services to meet the needs of the community while maintaining the cultural uniqueness <br /> of Hawai`i's rich heritage, diversity, and the aloha spirit; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Parks and Recreation to expand the signage at the Edith Kanaka`ole Multi-Purpose Stadium to <br /> include "Home of the Merrie Monarch Festival." <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below. <br />
