Your Committee on Governmental Operations and External Affairs, to which was referred
Communication No. 276, reports as follows:
Communication No. 276, transmitted by Mayor Mitchell D. Roth, dated April 28, 2023, requests
the Council's review and confirmation of the nomination of Cathy Lewis to the Board of
Appeals.
Executive Assistant to the Mayor Pomaika`i Bartolome was present in the Hilo Chambers to
introduce Ms. Lewis, who attended via videoconference.
Pursuant to Article 6, Chapter 9, Section 6-9.2 of the Hawaii County Charter, members of the
Board of Appeals shall be appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the Council.
Your Committee on Governmental Operations and External Affairs is in accord with the purpose
and intent of Communication No. 276, and recommends confirmation of the appointment of
Cathy Lewis to the Board of Appeals.
