I am writing as Founding President of Keoki and Malia. Org.
I support this Bill whole heartedly as a Bill whose time has come.
I was the only person from Hawai'i to have attended five Association for the Study of Peak Oil (ASPO)conferences
beginning in 2007. At that time the world had been using twice as much oil as was being found during the previous 20
years.
By 2011, shale oil was looked upon as the savior. But, by Oct 2018, it was determined that the world had again hit peak
production, then the pandemic happened. Now, that the pandemic is over, we are looking around and noticing that the
world superpowers are
fighting and maneuvering over fossil fuel.
Hawaii is especially vulnerable sitting in the middle of the largest ocean in the world. Because the subject includes more
than just fossil fuel. Now, is the time that we must form a multi disciplined department within the management of
Hawai'i County.
