Aloha,
I am writing today to express my support for resolution 183-23. This resolution is for a
replacement water tank and roof repair on the Hawaiian Acres Community Firehouse.
Our volunteer fire dept. serves all of Hawaiian Acres and they assist Hawaii County Fire
Dept. within the boundaries of our subdivision.
Unlike many other HOAs in the area, our community association is funded exclusively by
voluntary donations from our community. We do not have mandatory fees.
The grant would help us restore the firehouse roof and the water tank which are vital for
our community's fire fighting needs and also serves our community center.
The firehouse is located on the community association's property. However, the fire dept.
responds for our entire community's 4,000 plus lot owners, whether or not they are
association members.
The funding will allow our association to work out a lease agreement for the future with
Hawaii County Fire. This agreement will outline the responsibilities for the facility and will
insure the continuity of fire protection for the entire subdivision.
