Subject: Budget for Prevention Bill 30
To Whom It May Concern:
As you consider the budget for Animal Control for the fiscal year, please consider reallocating some of the salary funding
to preventative programs. Our county is in dire need of more free or low cost spay/neuter clinics. If Animal Control
can't provide these services, you should be supporting the non-profits that do.At the very least, offer matching funds.
We also need more funding for loose and abandoned pets. Our human homeless populations are growing, due to
inflated rents and lack of affordable housing.As more people are displaced, so are their pets. Several people turn their
pets loose as an alternative to them being euthinized.Starving animals can become dangerous animals. Non-profits are
bursting at the seams, trying to keep up with the ever increasing numbers of abandoned animals. Without the
communities assistance,Animal Control will fail. It's past time to learn how to work together and support each other. If
you study communities that have successfully turned their crisis into a winning strategy, it becomes immediately
apparent how important it is to collaborate. Please don't keep throwing tax dollars into one basket. It has not worked in
the past.All eyes are on you to come up with viable solutions. Let's work together and draw on the dedicated people,
organizations and resources in our county to solve the problems.
