Subject: Proposed Lako Street Extension -v
•
w
To Council Members, u'
I am a Kona resident. I was born and raised in Kona and I am oppose to this proposed Lako Street Extension for the following
reasons.
1. Don't use precious Tax Payer Dollars to create this"so-called" solution to alleviate traffic or create a Tsunami Evacuation
road.
2. Local News reports, that previously approved Funding for improving State of Hawaii roads, has been redirected, in order to
fund Honolulu international airport Infrastructure Improvement Project. The Airport Project has started and manpower is
working around-the-Clock in order to meet a completion date of thirty(30)days from now!!
3. If Lako Street extention "is"approved, surrounding Landowners, will only use this as an opportunity to build homes all along
this extension, once they get re-zoning approved; if needed.
4.Taxpayers should not put money into these Landowners pockets by opening a road to their properties i.e."road access".
And local residents will not be able to afford to buy and/or rent these new homes.
5. Even more traffic congestion will be created because of these new homes or Condo residents; not alleviated!
6.All the debris from road construction, new home, new condo construction will run down hill and into the ocean; no matter
how careful Developers may promise not to let that happen.
7.The proposed road will run through parts or completely through a sacred area known as "Keakeawahine wahi pana".
Mahalo for your attention to my concerns.
