Thank you for this opportunity to testify on Bill 31 draft 2,line item#202329, Lako Street Extension in the amount$1,14),000-4.-*.
I strongly oppose budgeting for the desecration of the Keakealaniwahine Complex.
Who benefits here?Certainly not the long-time local families surfing at the tiny access spots left at Lyman's and Banyans.
This extension has been introduced a number of times and has been denied consistently,most recently in 2020. But it is back yet
again, and with little to no public outreach other than the bare minimum legally required.
Please stop, now and forever,with these attempts to pave through sacred land in order to provide access for ever more
development and congestion.**
We are at a tipping point globally, with greater awareness of cultural appropriation, reparations and the importance of"thinking
globally and acting locally"with regard to climate change.Choices made ripple outward,affecting and influencing who we are as
neighbors locally and in the world. Please choose wisely.

* Note that this item is projected to increase by almost 10-fold before this extension would be completed.An estimate of$12M was
given in 2017.
**There are 77 houses priced at$1M and up being built now directly on Ali'i Drive(the Cottages and Royal Ali'i).Add the 775
housing units already approved to be built in this general area (Pualani makai and Sunstone Kona).There are more.
