January 3, 2000 rte,
Honorable Chairman and County Council members, -N~
I am writing you to express my support for Bill 184, to be introduced by Ms. Julie Jacobson at the
Finance Committee meeting tomorrow, January 4, at 10:30 AM. My schedule prevents me from
being present at this meeting, hence this letter.
With this Bill Ms. Jacobson has solved a lot of the frustration I have experienced while attending
County Council meetings or watching them on TV. Disconnecting the (financial) interests some of
our public representatives might have, from issues coming to the Council is in my opinion a brilliant
idea and will change the voting outcome on these issues. This change will have a positive impact
on the inner and outer landscape of this island, and will leave the public more at ease with the
decisions being made on their behalf, versus decisions which sometimes are made on the behalf
of just a few.
The other positive aspect of this Bill is that it does not threaten anyone in particular; it will make
things easier and clearer in the future. Politics are very difficult to grasp for most of us; we not only
disassociate from it, but also from you as our representatives! Issues are ckxxied over by unknown
powers and this is a shame and truly diminishing the democracy which we all favor, I am sure.
Please support Ms. Jacobson' s Bifl 184.
,With kind regards,
GeMirre Maus, Director
