I have never had a customer ask us to install an electric vehicle charging station. I have asked my managers "has any customer asked for an electric charging station?"Their answer is a definitive no. Over the last several years we have seen some competitors install these charging stations and we continue to drive by and never see anyone using them. In fact, recently I traveled to Oahu and have seen some of the stations that had been installed, now have had them removed. The average Hawaii resident's internal combustion engine has a 14-gallon gasoline tank. The average gallons per minute pumped at our locations is 10 gallons per minute. It takes less than a minute and a half for a customer to fill their gasoline tank. This tank will in turn provide them with on average 400 miles of driving. Most consumers who own electric cars in Hawaii seem to be Tesla's.The average Tesla on a full charge with moderate driving lasts for 325 miles. A phase 2 charger would take 6-8 HOURS to charge to its capacity. Gasoline stations are not businesses that the public pulls into and stays for a long period of time.We have a completely different customer demographic purpose than Target,Walmart, or a shopping center. Based on all industry studies the average customer that patrons a convenience store wants to be in and out in 2-5 minutes. Gasoline stations with convenience stores are an extremely competitive industry. If there was a demand for electric charging,we would implement it. It has been proven that this technology, or the want for charging stations is not there when it comes to our customers. Customers do not park for long periods of time and browse the candy aisle. The astronomical expense to local businesses by requiring a statue that no one is asking for would be a waste of time, funds, energy, and resources. We urge the council to reject Bill 50. Thank you. Matthew Gustayson,VP Operations Goose's Edge, Inc. 808-283-5772. Comm. No. Ref.To: P L p CCWP.A Ref. Date JUN - 6 2023
