Aloha Council Members, My name is Kaia Anderson. I have owned my home at 73-4532 Iki Place for just over 20 years now.As you are aware, myself and my neighbors have struggled terribly with the water system. We each have PVC or Driscoll pipes running from the highway down the old Church of God Road to our houses. There are frequent leaks in these pipes as pigs trample over them or branches fall on them, among other threats. It is usually a community effort to figure out who the break belongs to by checking each meter at the highway and communicating through a large email chain, which is very slow to get responses, and so much water is wasted in the process. In addition there are the small leaks, often covered by foliage, that can go undetected for a very long time. Also, whenever we have to repair a leak and then turn the water back on,damage is done to some to the house fixtures, though we try our best to mitigate. This is a very stressful and costly issue. Another problem is that the water pressure is extremely intense due to the gravity from the highway down to the neighborhood. We have had to replace out regulator several times. I am in complete support of Resolution 164 and so very grateful to all of those who have worked so hard to help us fix this incessant problem, including Council Member Inaba, Legislative Assistant Wendy Baez, Department of Water engineer Ryan Quitoriano, Finance Director Deanna Sake, and a few of my amazing neighbors. Thank you so much for voting to approve this resolution! F Mahalo Nui Loa, Kaia Anderson&Ohana nom ((R4nciI 1 ...I 10 1 Ref Dale.' JUN 7: 2023
