SUBJECT: A Resolution to Adopt the 2023 Integrated Climate Action Plan as the
County's Official Strategic Plan to Achieve its Emissions Mitigation and
Climate Adaptation Goals and Targets.
Please find attached a Resolution to adopt the 2023 Integrated Climate Action Plan as the
county's official strategic plan to mitigate its emissions to achieve carbon neutrality by
2045 and to adapt to the risks and hazards of climate change.
We respectfully request this Resolution be placed on the appropriate committee agenda
for July 18, 2023.

A. REQUEST:
A resolution adopting the 2023 Integrated Climate Action Plan as the official strategic roadmap for achieving
emissions mitigation and climate adaptation goals and targets.
The Resolution outlines the concept of climate change, policy history regarding sustainability and climate
change targets, the overarching goals of the ICAP, and commits the County to actions and strategies
outlined in the document.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED
Over the last decade, the County has supported and committed itself to taking proactive action to mitigate its
contributions to and adapt to the impacts of global climate change. The creation of the Integrated Climate
Action Plan is the County's first step for outlining how it intends to achieve goals related to climate change
mitigation and adaptation. Affirmation of this Resolution shows commitment from all branches of government
to achieve those goals through the actions and strategies listed herein which will then aid the Department in
its grant applications and displaying proof of commitment to climate action.
