Re: Operating Budget
The County of Hawaii has been awarded $10,000,000 from the United States
Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)through its Community Project
Funding. These funds will be used to support the planning, design, and vertical
construction cost of the Kukuiola Assessment Center and Emergency Shelter in North
Kona.
Enclosed is a resolution to enter into an agreement to accept these funds. Also enclosed
is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating this
$10,000,000 grant. If there are any questions,please do not hesitate to call Susan Kunz

The Office of Housing and Community Development(OHCD) is requesting to amend Ordinance 23-60
by appropriating the'following:
Revenue:
HUD Community Project Funding l ukuiola (Federal) 162.3607 10,000,000.00
Expenditure.
HUD—Community Project Funding Kukuiola - Program 152.461:5466XX $ 0,500,000,00`
HUD- Community Project Funding Kukuiola—Admin 152461,5466.XX $ 500,000.00
Please also submit a resolution to authorize the Mayor to execute and submit all required agreements and
other related documents to multi-year agreement with the US Department of dousing and Urban
Development.

The County of Hawaii received written notification that its request for federal grant funding from the U
Department of dousing and Urban Development from its Community Project Funding has been
approved.
The federal grant funding Will be used to support the planning, design and vertical construction cost of
the l ukuiola Assessment Center and Emergency Shelter in Forth Kona.
The ordinance sets up the proper accounts to receive and expend the grant funds.
