Please forward the bill from your — committee with a strong recommendation of approval. Frankly, I am stunned that Hawaii County, of all places in the United States, does not already have such an office. Of the 3,000+ counties in the nation., none has more potential disasters than Hawai'i County. Resilience is in our nature, and should be supported by an influential government office. Sustainability with an eye on climate change tethered to environmental equity is a "no brainer." The individual components of OSCER are synergistic and this new office should serve the public very well. I am very pleased to support such a new agency because of the need and because I believe it will pay for itself many times over.
