Dear County Council,
Re: the upcoming July 6 meeting for Bill 51 on changing the speed
limit on Kalaniana'ole Street from 30 to 25 miles per hour: Please
pass this bill.
As you know, there is resistance to adding speed humps to the road,
but something needs to change. There are so many people who use
the road at the beach parks with kids, dogs, kupuna -- it's a wonder
that only nene have been killed!
I was rear-ended in front of the condo at 1875 Kalanianaole last
November by a speeder. My car was totaled, and I was injured.
Recently a nene family has been using the newly-mowed grass next
to Wai'uli beach park, we often hear them in the morning. The end
of the road here near Wai'uli is a place where motorists turn around
and then burn tires and speed off. I am worried about the nene.
Thank you for your consideration in this matter.
