A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HULIAUAPA‘A FOR
THE REVITALIZATION OF THE WAHI KŪPUNA KAHALU‘U FIELD SYSTEM.
WHEREAS, Huliauapa‘a is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that was established to grow communities through culturally based forms of innovative learning, leadership development, and
collaborative networking in wahi kūpuna stewardship; and
WHEREAS, Kahalu‘u Kūāhewa is a grassroots organization with the vision to revitalize the wahi kūpuna Kahalu‘u Field System as traditional Hawaiian agricultural landscape and reconnecting
kānaka to ʻāina; and
WHEREAS, Kahalu‘u Kūāhewa is working together with Huliauapa‘a, to perpetuate ancestral knowledge that reconnects kānaka to ʻāina through indigenous grassroots initiatives and sustainable
restorative agricultural practices at the wahi kūpuna Kahalu‘u Field System; and
WHEREAS, Huliauapa‘a is requesting funds to pay for tree trimming expenses, agricultural and maintenance equipment and supplies, and community engagement supplies and material; and
WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Liquor Control is to support organizations and programs that promote the health, safety, and welfare of the public in a drug- and alcohol-free
environment, such as the Kahalu‘u Kūāhewa revitalization of the wahi Kūpuna Kahalu‘u Field System; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant
to Huliauapa‘a for the revitalization of the wahi kūpuna Kahalu‘u Field System.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of Finance is hereby
authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
