A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO GOING HOME HAWAI‘I
FOR EXPENSES RELATING TO ITS REENTRY & RESTORATION SUMMIT IN KAILUA-KONA.
WHEREAS, Going Home Hawai‘i is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to the health and wellness of justice-involved individuals and to lowering the recidivism rate on Hawai‘i
Island by assisting with reintegration into community life through employment, housing, education, and appropriate services; and
WHEREAS, Going Home Hawai‘i’s Reentry & Restoration Summit is convening advocates for justice-involved individuals, government leaders, and experts in their fields to discuss supportive
housing, healthcare, career advancement, equity, and community safety on August 23, 2023, in Kailua-Kona; and
WHEREAS, Going Home Hawai‘i is requesting funds for the audio and visual expense relating to its Reentry & Restoration Summit; and
WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney is to improve the criminal justice system by identifying areas of need and working collaboratively with other criminal
justice agencies and the community; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney to provide
a grant to Going Home Hawai‘i for expenses relating to its Reentry & Restoration Summit in Kailua-Kona.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
